Fresh Fashion Library was founded in 2016 by two best friends and entrepreneurs Samia Syed (left) and Zoey Wen (right)
Our mission is to inspire and empower women to make sustainable fashion choices.
Since starting our journey, we’ve stuck to our core values of community, service, sustainability, and style.
Here are our milestones along the way.
Fresh Fashion Library started out as a peer-to-peer model where members can exchange items.
It all started with our co-founder Samia Syed’s speech at her sister’s wedding: “What I’ll miss about living with my sister is definitely her closet.” What started out as simply wanting a larger closet made Samia realize that this could be a solution for many women who dream of having the “perfect wardrobe”.
Under the name FreshRents, the model evolved to include high-end formal and occasion-wear rentals.
With co-founder Zoey Wen joining the team, FreshRents offered women luxury styles made accessible and afforable.

The Learning Process
Next came a period of exploring the possibilities.
We listened to what women in our community wanted out of a wardrobe and created a new model.
We put together everything we learned and opened Toronto’s first shared wardrobe, a library system for everyday fashion and occasion-wear rentals.
This is what we see as the future of fashion: buying less, but wearing more.
